About Spiti Valley
Located in the Northern state of Himachal Pradesh, ‘Spiti Valley’ or ‘Lahaul-Spiti’ as it is alternatively known, is a cold desert mountain valley famous for its panoramic landscapes and unexplored tourist spots. The word ‘Spiti’ literally translates into ‘middle-land’ in English, as it signifies the land between Tibet and India. One of the most sparsely populated regions in India, Spiti Valley is predominantly home to the Vajrayana Buddhism followers. Also regarded as the gateway to the mystical Ladakhi region, Lahaul-Spiti is directly accessible only by road for the general public during the summer months of April to October. The Spiti Valley is surrounded by high mountain ranges on both sides as it is separated from the Kullu Valley in Himachal Pradesh by the Rohtang Pass (13,054 feet or 3979m), and Lahaul and Spiti are separated by the Kunzum Pass (15,059 feet or 4590m). Both the mountain passes are connected by the Leh-Manali national highway which often gets disconnected during the winter months due to excessive snowfall.

Day 01:
Arrival Delhi - Chandigarh - Shimla – Narkanda
On your arrival at Delhi Airport our Representative/Driver will pick you and your journey to Chandigarh will start. On your arrival at Chandigarh our Delhi vehicle will drop you at Chandigarh Point and than our local Representative/Driver will pick you up from Chandigarh point and your journey to Narkanda Will start. On the way enjoy the view of beautiful views of Himalayas & Shimla. Then drive to Narkanda and reach Narkanda in late Evening. On Arrival check-in to the hotel and retire for the day. If time permits than explore the nearby places on your own. Later on come back to the hotel, Dinner & Overnight stay at Narkanda.

Day 02:
Narkanda - Rampur - Kalpa
After breakfast, visit the famous Hatu temple in Narkanda. Hatu peak is the second highest peak in Shimla. It is located at an elevation of 3400 m (11,152 ft) above sea level. The peak is surrounded by dense forest of conifers, oaks and maples. On the way if time permits than you can visit the Rampur Markets and also visit – The Famous Padam Palace of Rampur. Padam palace is a private property of the Royal family of Bushahr, whose current king would have been the past chief minister of Himachal Pradesh – Virbhadra Singh. In fact, he is still referred to as Raja Sahib in this area. Padam Singh who built this palace was his father and was the 122nd king in the lineage of this dynasty. Some people in its lawns say this palace is 300-400-year-old. Some even placed it older than that. After that, continue the journey for Reckong Peo and reach Kalpa in the late afternoon or evening. On arrival, viisit – Peo Market, Roghi Village and Suicide point. At Kalpa, catch a glimpse of the famous Kinner Kailash mountain range. Later on check-In to the hotel and retire for the day. Dinner and overnight stay at Kalpa. (Note: Tempo Traveler will not go till Hatu Temple Because it’s not possible for the large vehicle. Vehicle will drop you at one point and from there onwards you have to trek for the Temple and Peak sightseeing. Sometimes small vehicles are also not able to go there, so you have to manage the same accordingly).

Day 03:
Kalpa - Pooh - Nako - Tabo
Today morning after breakfast drive toward to Tabo. Enroute you will find the amazing viewing of Satluj & Spiti Rivers at Khab. We will stop for lunch in Nako village which is the first village of Spiti valley region and famous for a beautiful lake. On the way, visit Gue village to see the Mummy (depends upon the road condition). Later on continue drive to Tabo. Tabo,is a small town in Lahaul and Spiti district on the banks of the Spiti River. The town lies on the road between Reckong Peo and Kaza. Visit the Tabo village, surrounded by Buddhist Monasteries which is more than 1000 years old and is considered one of the holiest Buddhist sites in the world. There are several caves nearby which are used by Buddhist monks for meditation in solitude. In the evening, You can explore the Tabo Market and taste the local Tibetan food if time permits. Later come back for Dinner and Overnight stay at Tabo. (Note: Road conditions to Gue village are not good. Tempo Travelers can’t go their due to bad road conditions. If at the time of the travel is not possible for the vehicle (SUV/Sedan) to go till that point than Gue Village Sightseeing will not be done. It’s for Guest Safety only.)

Day 04:
Tabo - Dhankar Village - Pin Valley - Kaza
Enjoy the early morning breakfast, then drive to Dhankar village and visit Gompa which is situated high above the valley. After lunch, drive to Pin Valley, you can explore village life and spend some time in Kungri monastery. After Pin valley sightseeing, we will move towards Kaza. On Arrival at Kaza, check-In to the homestay, You can explore the kaza market, do shopping, buy some handcrafts and have experience of street food on your own. In the evening, come back for Dinner and overnight stay at homestay. Dhankar village is known for a fort and residence of the king of Spiti. The views from this point are mind blowing and also visit Lhalung Gompa & Local People Pin valley, is famous for its wildlife and National Park which includes critically endangered snow leopards, Siberian Ibex, Himalayan Bear and Wolf covering the Mudh village Tabo, is a small town in Lahaul and Spiti district on the banks of the Spiti River in Himachal Pradesh, India. The town lies on the road between Reckong Peo and Kaza, the sub-divisional headquarters of Spiti. The town surrounds a Buddhist monastery which, according to legend, is said to be over a thousand years old. Kaza,is the sub divisional headquarters of the remote Spiti Valley and known as Heart of Spiti. Kaza is a high altitude or cold desert having close similarities to the neighbouring Tibet and Ladakh regions in terms of terrain, climate and the Buddhist culture (Note: For Dhankar Lake it’s a minimum 2-3 hrs trek for one side from Dhankar village and vehicles can’t go till dhankar lake. Vehicle will drop you at one point and from there onwards you have to do the long trek for Dhankar Lake. Please note it will be only possible if all travelers are ready for this trek and you have to move early morning around 6-7 AM from Tabo, then only it’s possible. For Trek Guide [depending upon the availability] Cost will be extra. Please also note if you opt for Trek than sightseeing would not be possible.)

Day 05:
Kaza - Key Monastery - Kibber - Langza - Hikkim - Komik - Kaza
Today morning after breakfast, proceed to the famous Key Monastery and Kibber Village. The car will first stop at the base of the monastery hill for the ultimate photo opportunity of this remarkable structure. Spend some time with the monks and have experience of their life, culture, history of spiti and its traditions. Then we will move for the world’s second highest villages of Asia situated at 4205 meters and 18 km from Kaza, this formerly highest permanently habited village in this region, is also a popular base camp to embark on adventure and treks to adjoining mountains of high altitude. The expanses of beautiful landscapes and immeasurable beauty of the snow-tipped mountains make the place a haven for nature-lovers and photographers alike. Explore the local tibetan cafe and have your lunch on your own. After lunch, we will cover the Langza, Hikkim, Komic village and come back to Kaza. Overnight stay at Kaza. Key Monastery, Founded more than a 1000 years ago by Dromton, Key Gompa Monastery located in Lahaul and Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh. Key Monastery or Kye Gompa is an absolutely transcendent place of worship which is now officially the biggest monastery of Spiti Valley and a religious training centre for Lamas. Kibber, is the best place for travelers in the entire Spiti Valley. Located at a dizzying altitude of 4200m above sea level, Kibber village is famous for a monastery and the Kibber Wildlife Sanctuary. Langza, is famous for its fossil hunting. Due to its close proximity to the China border, most of the population in Langza practice Tibetan Buddhism. It is an interesting place for handicraft lovers as the primary occupation of the villagers is mud craft. Vessels, ornaments, and souvenirs of all shapes and sizes are produced in this village and sold all across the country. Hikkim, the world’s highest post office in the world. If possible, you might even meet the postmaster and hear his stories and have the experience to send a postcard to your family, loved one from the nominated Post Office. Komic, is the world’s highest connecting Village with the motorable road which literally translates to ‘eye of a snow cock’, is situated at a height of 4580 meters. This farming village has a population of 84 people, living in utter isolation, cut-off from the rest of the world for most parts of the year. This little hamlet ensures to bring you thousands of miles away from your familiar settings to a place of soft brown pastures and snow-white mountain peaks. Some of the common animals of the region are the Tibetan wolf, blue sheep, red fox, hare, snow cock, Himalayan griffin, rock pigeon etc.

Day 06:
Kaza - Losar - Kunzum La (Pass) - Chandratal
Today Early morning, Have breakfast and drive for Chandratal, best attraction for adventure freaks. On the way, visit Losar village and you can have your lunch and take a break for rest. Then drive to chandratal enrouting kunzum pass, take blessings from Kunzum Mata Mandir for our better welfare. By evening reach Chandratal campsite and check-in to camps in the midst of overwhelming landscapes and do some hiking nearby on your own. Later on come back to the camp for dinner and overnight stay under the stars and have an Amazing experience of Star Stargazing & Milky way Photography shoots. (Note: In Chandratal all camps are at the camp site and minimum 2.5-3 Kms distance from the lake – One Side and don’t forget to bring your Camera, DSLR if you have one. Otherwise You will regret it.)

Day 07:
Chandratal - Batal - Rohtang Pass - Manali
This early Morning, we will go trekking to Chandratal lake and enjoy the beautiful view of the lake. Later on, come back to camps and fresh-n-up and have breakfast. After Breakfast proceed to Manali. On the way you will be fascinated by the snow clad mountains of Rohtang Pass, Emerald Valleys and ferocious waterfalls. You can stop at Rohtang Pass and enjoy some quality time with the Family & Friends (If time Permits). Reach Manali in the evening, check into the hotel and retire for the day. If time permits then you can explore the nearby places on your own. Have a foot tour on your own of Manali bazaar for shopping of antique articles (Vehicle will drop you at one point and from there onwards you have to roam around on your own). Later on come back to the hotel for dinner & overnight stay in Manali. (Note: Due to Rush in Rohtang pass and bad road conditions in chhatru vehicle can be stuck in traffic, so please try to move as early as possible from Chandratal. So you can reach manali easily till evening. Tempo Traveler/SUV will not go Till Manali – Mall Road as there are parking and transport union issues.)
